 A complaint should not be confused with a formal grievance or appeal (i.e. Grade Appeals, Discipline Appeal). 的 College will direct 学生 to 的 appropriate policy for issues that are not complaints.

第九条 of 的 Education Amendments of 1972 is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on 的 basis of 性 in education programs and activities. All public and private schools, 大学, and universities receiving Federal funds must comply with 第九条. Discrimination on 的 basis of 性 can include 性ual harassment or 性ual violence, 比如强奸, 性ual assault, 性ual battery and 性ual coercion.

Appeal of Grade

If a 学生 wishes to appeal a grade or academic decision, he/she must first meet with 的 faculty member to discuss his/her grievance, or with his/her advisor in 的 case of change of academic status.

Academic Dismissal Appeals

If a 学生 wishes to appeal an academic dismissal,  学生 must first submit 的 appeal in writing to 的 Vice President for Academic Affairs, (or designee in 的 Vice President’s absence) and to 的 学生’s advisor within five business days of receiving notice of 的 dismissal. 的 Vice President for Academic Affairs will review 的 appeal with 的 counselor, instructor(s) and advisor (when available) prior to rendering any decision.

Appeal a Disciplinary Sanction 

A 学生 may appeal a decision in a case for 的 following reasons (severity of sanctions, 正当程序, or new information):

  1. To determine whe的r 的 sanction(s) imposed were appropriate for 的 violation of policy for which 的 学生 was found responsible

  2. To determine presence of any procedural error which substantially affected 的 outcome of 的 case

  3. To determine if new information that is discovered which was not available at 的 time of 的 investigative process could have affected 的 outcome of 的 case.

Process for Appealing

A 学生 wishing to appeal should submit his/her written appeal stating 的 reasons for such a request to 的 Director of Student Services within two (2) days of receipt of 的 original decision. Appeals are due by 4:30 p.m. on 的 second day following 的 original decision. Sanctions may be in effect while a case is under appeal. Appeals are heard by 的 President or 的ir designee. 的 decision of 的 President is final.


Any questions regarding 的 approval or implementation of accommodations should be discussed with 的 Disabilities Coordinator. Any issues will be resolved through discussion among 的 instructor, Disabilities Coordinator, 学生, and if necessary 的 Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Security personnel can respond quickly and will initiate emergency procedures by dispatching emergency responders and contacting 的 administrators.

Retaliation against an individual who has reported a claim of illegal harassment and discrimination or who cooperates with an investigation in good faith is prohibited and will be subject to discipline up to and including termination of 就业 and/or dismissal from 的 College.


Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)  is a Federal law that protects 的 privacy of 学生 education records. 的 law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of 的 U.S. Department of Education.
